Imps and Monsters are taking over Stunningly Strange Gallery in downtown Edmonds! Justin Hillgrove, the man behind the brand Imps and Monsters, will be in-house for a live painting demonstration during the Edmonds Third Thursday Art Walk from 5-8pm on April 18, 2013.

“We are very excited to have Justin in the gallery,” says Kaitlin Phillips Goodey, owner of Stunningly Strange Gallery. “His characters are so endearing, playful and colorful that we have a strong desire, almost obligation to share it with everyone!”

From parodies and tributes to monsters and robots, Hillgrove brings us a whole new world of loveable characters. He will be working on a piece in the gallery to give the public a glimpse into how these characters are technically created and get a chance to ask him about his inspirations. It’s not often you get a chance to see such ingenuity at work!

Mostly self-taught, Hillgrove worked in the design industry before dedicating his time to Imps and Monsters. He grew up in Snohomish and currently lives in Washington with his wife and children, creating imaginative characters in his art studio.

Hillgrove has been seen at Tasty Gallery, the Bellevue Festival of Arts, Edmonds Art Festival, Folklife Festival and various other festivals and galleries around the nation.
